SYNONYMS : 2-(2-AMINOETHOXY)ETHANOL / DIGLYCOLAMINE® / DGA® / ADEG®
Diglycolamine® (DGA®), with the chemical formula HN(CH2CH2OH)2, is a derivative of alkanolamines. It is a clear, colorless, hygroscopic liquid that combines the properties of amines and alcohols in its structure, having both hydroxyl and amine functionalities.
One of the primary applications of Diglycolamine® is in gas treatment. DGA® is employed for the removal of acid gases like hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and carbon dioxide (CO2) from natural gas and refinery process streams. It acts by selectively absorbing these gases, ensuring the purification of these industrial gases.
Furthermore, for coatings and paints, DGA® serves as an additive to improve the properties of certain formulations. Due to its unique structure, it can also be used as an intermediate in the production of various chemicals and solvents.
Additionally, Diglycolamine® has roles in the formulation of personal care products, acting as an emulsifier or a stabilizer, ensuring product consistency and quality.
